German Shepherd Watchdogs is very unique among the protection dog market. While there are other dog brokers out there who sell Schutzhund-titled dogs or their own privately trained “Level 3” protection dogs, GSW is set apart from the rest by several key aspects of our business.

Our Operation

We are a boutique family-owned operation, with a staff consisting only of the Riboni family. Together we care for, train, and place the dogs ourselves. We do not house large numbers of dogs. Instead, we search for quality dogs and only bring in a few at a time. We have trusted contacts in Europe with access to some of the best bloodlines and best dogs available; these contacts help us find outstanding canines that meet our exacting standards.

Our Reputation

GSW founder John Riboni is a well-respected and well-known police dog trainer, POST-certifier for K9 teams, and Schutzhund trainer, training helper, and competitor. John has supplied and trained police dogs for multiple police departments in the U.S. and in Canada since 1997. As one of the top Schutzhund training helpers in the nation, John has helped train and coach many dog/handler teams to regional, national, and international championship levels. He started Schutzhund in 1987, has competed at top levels, and founded Placer County Schutzhund Club in 1997. PCSC quickly became one of the top training clubs in the region under his instruction. Additionally, he has twice represented the United States at the WUSV (World Union of German Shepherd Dog Clubs), competing on the international level with his dog Bingo von der Abfuhr.

Our Experience

We have extensive first-hand knowledge of pedigrees, genetics, and working dogs. For over the past 25 years, John has gained experience with German Shepherd Dogs through selecting, training, and certifying police K9s as well as selecting, training, and competing with top competition dogs. He has also bred German Shepherd Dogs under the kennel name of ‘vom Hufeisenberg’, producing dogs that serve as police K9s in addition to Schutzhund dogs that have competed at regional and national levels.

Our Dedication

We truly care for the dogs we sell. We spend individual time with each dog, inviting them into our home, socializing them with our other animals, and training them on a one-on-one basis. They also accompany us to the training club and other dog-friendly public places, so that we can provide them with more positive social experiences. We seek to know our dogs well before we ever sell them. We do not just sell to anyone who comes along; we want to ensure that the dog is the best fit for the individual or family.

Our High Standards

We are very specific with what we look for in our German Shepherd Dogs. We seek out dogs with solid genetics, Schutzhund titles, certified hips and elbows, beautiful structure, and great temperaments. Additionally, we get to know our customers well: who they are, what their lifestyle and personality are like, what type of dog they are looking for and what will work best in their home. We refuse to sell to anyone who will not be a good home for one of our dogs.

Our Customer Service

We are here to support you for the life of your dog. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not have a deadline for determining if your new German Shepherd is the right fit for your family. We continue to return your calls and respond to any questions or concerns you may have. Furthermore, we personally deliver your dog so that we can help him settle into your home, and offer in-home training to help you bond with your new companion. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with the dog or do not feel he is the right fit, we will be happy to work with you. We do not believe in just selling you a “product” and then cutting all ties with the customer. Our customers become our friends, and we continue to support you to ensure that our dogs are placed in the best home possible.
