We love dogs

As you can see from the entertaining You Tube video clip we have linked, dogs do some amazing things. Their intelligence continues to challenge traditional thinking about animal behavior. Often dogs make independent decisions that impress and surprise us. They have been known to risk their own safety in heroic efforts to rescue a human. In less dramatic ways, dogs provide much needed companionship to lonely and ill people and one would swear that the dogs understand the joy they bring to their owners.

We have German Shepherd Watchdogs canines out serving in many capacities. One of our dogs has been equipped with a special harness so he can provide constant stability to a stroke victim. In addition to this disability service role, the dog is fully protection trained so he will bark at the man’s side and will fiercely defend him against outside threats. Another of our dogs is a seeing eye companion to a sightless woman. Yet another of our highly trained German Shepherds is the constant companion to a brain injury patient.

In addition to these wonderful service dogs, many of our dogs provide companionship and security to families who have experienced neighborhood break-ins. Still, other dogs have gone to owners who compete in the demanding dog sport of Schutzhund, which tests a dog’s proficiency in tracking, obedience and protection. Others, because of their impeccable training and stable temperaments, have become constant traveling companions to retired couples who travel in their RVs. One dog is enjoying his new life on a 70,000 acre cattle ranch. Dogs amaze us but the German Shepherd, with his keen intelligence, fierce loyalty and constant vigilance, is at the top of our list of favorite breeds.
